Volkswagen Passat: a new beginning

It's not a big question but there must be a reason why Volkswagen chose to launch Passat in India. As the assumption goes, the obvious reason may be Passat already have a full-product range available in India. This sedan gave a break to Volkswagen from its previous image, which could be a reason alongside it having a product range here.
But, we must remember that Passat is globally most successful car from Volkswagen after the Beetle and Golf. The car that ranks top in Europe and No 4 worldwide, surely give a great kick start to its flagship dealership here.
